U.S. - Japan Links Japan-related web sites on business, public affairs, culture and education
The Manjiro Society for International Exchange, Inc. is a national, not-for-profit educational and cultural exchange organization that aims to foster grassroots-level exchange between the people of Japan and the U.S.
The Millicent Library, praised by
Mark Twain, was built in 1893 and has been the keeper of the Manjiro story since then.
The guest register was signed not only by Twain, but also by Crown Prince Akihito and
Princess Michiko, now the Emperor and Empress of Japan. Maps and information about Manjiro
and Fairhaven history are available.
We had a group of students and teachers from Shimizu High School in our Sister City visiting us.
See pictures of them on the Shimizu High School Visit Page.
The Blue Waves Little League Team from Tosashimizu was in the Fairhaven/New
Bedford area in 1998. Read about their visit in the Standard Times here
and here
